FATHERS DAY

HAPPY FATHERS DAY, fathers day is actually a big deal all of the churches have parties and there is tons of food, that is probably why not very many people came to church, because they went to a church that was having a party!
Thanks so much for the box with the clif bars and stuff it was the best thing ever! I am sending a box today so get ready! Sorry I don't ever send long emails I just don't really have time and the internet is really slow, and i am the slowest typer in the world so that doesnt help.
Lets see not that much stuff went on this week! The A.P.'s came to Chuuk and they have been here all week and it was cool! I got to go teaching with one of them, Elder Gasu, it is awesome I learned alot of sweet stuff, he is super cool! He has served most of his mission in Pohnpei so he speaks Pohnpeian but he knows Chuukese really good and he had to learn some crazy outer island language called Mortlockese i think, so he is the Man! There was another funeral this week so Elder Huppe and I got to eat like kings again it was sweet. They always make the best food! Oh and i am sending home my memory card with my box so you can see a bunch of pictures! Landon i am finaly sending your B day presents so i hope that your not mad at me! Don't be mad landon hahah its coming! Dad Happy Birthday, it is weird not being home for all of this stuff! Dad how old did you you turn this year, 37 right or is it 36? With how much you are bench pressing it has got to be around there!:) Well family i love you guys so much you are always in my prayers! I had a scripture that i wanted to share with you but i forgot what it was haha oh well all of the scriptures are awesome!!

Transfers are this week so who knows what is going to happen! Who knows where i will be when i next email you or if i even get to email where i am! because all of the outer islands only get to email once a month if that, so i guess we will see! Next week you will have a crazy email this one isn't to interesting! i am kinda nervous, everyone keeps saying that i am going to train someone, and that would be crazy, but i will let you know what happens and where i go or if anything changes!
Love you family! Love Elder Hunter

Chuukese Flu

Mom I really miss you! I really miss you! I have never realized how crappy it is being sick until I got sick with no one to take care of me!haha it really sucked super bad, Elder Huppe just isn't the same, and he really does not know how to give foot rubs!! haha just kidding I would never let him touch my feet! Anyway this week was a crazy, interesting week it was all over the place! ok so last p day it was like 9:30 and my companion told we that I was going to do an exchange with Elder Kleven in Wichap Tuesday and Wednesday, so that was kind of unexpected and I was pretty nervous! Just me and Elder Kleven, and Elder Kleven doesn't know much chuukese and my chuukese is not great, so it was scary! So we got back to our house and throw all our stuff inside and then we say good bye to the Zone leaders! Then we go inside and go into my bedroom and my stuff is all over and a bunch of stuff got stollen! I guess this has happened a bunch before  in Wichap! They didn't take really any important stuff just stuff that he could sell really fast! He took my White Watch the one that Britni gave to me and I was super super angry! That is the only thing that I was mad about! So how he broke in is he just hung by the roof and he kicked in our ac box! So now even though we could never use it now it is smashed and there was a big hole in the wall, ahah pretty crazy! So we just put it back the best we could and went to bed, haha I slept with a machete right next to me!haha so the next day me and elder Kleven were all on our own, and it was crazy! it was awesome though having to talk to everyone more that I usually would, because with elder Huppe he does most of the talking. So it was a super good thing having to do all of the talking!! I did all of the talking, and it was super fun finding people, because people are never at there house! And even more that day because there was a mima (funeral) but I found out were the mima was so me and elder kleven dropped our dollar and got our food with 2 of or members, A-chuk the kid that I baptized and another member who is super funny! His name is Casto he always sells us coconuts and tons of local food, he is the one that I took a video of him climbing the tree! Then the rest of the day we just went out and I taught a ton of people, it was super scary at first but it was awesome I taught lessons all day, and then I would look at elder Kleven and he would read his testimony! It was a super good learning experience for me! Ok so Wednesday night we walked down to go switch back, I kind of didn't want to, I liked being the boss haha. So we walked to this place called blue lagoon and we ate there it was super good, all I got was a bannana split and fried icecream it was sooo good. so we started walking back and it was already dark, and we didn't have a flash light haha so i stepped in some big puddles on accident haha! So we were walking and we saw these kids dancing so we stopped to watch because they were really good, like most chuukese kids! So then I realized that he had a really nice white watch, so we confronted him and he made up a bunch of storys about where he got it, but I ended up buying my own watch from him for 20 bucks, which was lame, but even though  it was something small like a watch I think that was a miracle! I was super happy that I got it back that is all I really cared about getting back! Alright then we went to bed and in the morning we were watching these training videos and I started getting really cold and a little weak! so I put on every hoody and sweat shirt that I had on and wrapped myself in a blanket and I was freezing, my comp was sweating like crazy, it is like 100 degrees and i was freezing. Then it was just a blur and I woke up on Saturday! I spent most of my time on the can I don't wat to say what I was doing! It was awful!

Chuukese Hair Cut

Dear Family,

I decided that I will send you a letter at least once a month! So here we go... Its kinda hard to think of what to write because I will email you to. So I think that in my email I will tell you about my week and in this letter I will tell you about the people I have been teaching.
We have been teaching a lot of lessons and a lot of people, I don't know where to start. Ok so we have been meeting with our recent converts BigMan and Atong almost every day, they are awesome. Atong goes teaching with us a lot in Wichap, and BigMan goes with us down by his house in Epidupe. BigMan is awesome he loves to have us over, we always help him out with stuff. His family makes us food. This week we helped him and his cousin plant a bunch of banana trees, and he gave me a tree of my own to plant. It is going to be cool to watch it grow.
We have been teaching these two sisters Ke and Mixi, they are awesome, they really want to learn. We gave them a book of Mormon last week and now their whole family is reading it. It is really awesome. I can already see them changing. One of these days you will get an email or letter telling you about their whole family being baptized!! That is going to be an amazing day. I believe that it can happen.
There is this little boy I think he is 11 or 12 his name is A-Chuk he is a punk, he reminds me a lot of Landon, haha. I think that he will be the next one baptized, he knows everything super good and he knows that the church is true, he is just a wild man. haha He is a really good kid though.
There are a bunch of little girls that we go see all the time. I have a bunch of pictures with them that you have  probably seen. One of them is named Keonin and she is almost ready to be baptized. Her mom and dad are both members but they don't usually come to church because there is a big osukisuk. Her mom attends sometimes but it is usually just her. She always comes with the girl that I baptized Narcian, they are super cute and way funny. The kids here are so funny. They jump and run and play all over me. They want me to lift them up and hold them every second that I am with them haha. "upwe mogno okasi" they always say that. That means I will eat your candy! haha! there are the cutest kids here. haha mom you would love it here because all of the little kids and babies never ever wear clothes. haha its super funny. Most of the time guys aren't wearing a shirt at their house.  When we teach them and when we pray they always put a shirt on or wrap them selves up in a towel. haha Another awkward thing, whenever their babies are hungry the moms just whip it out and feed their babies. Right in the middle of a lesson, when ever they want haha. That was weird at first, but I have gotten used to it. But the first time it happened, I was just like what!! Woooo!! and was super surprised and just looked the other way the whole time. Now it is not even weird it is just their culture.
There is a lot of weird things about Chuukese culture, not weird just different. One thing is when you eat, if you slurp your food a lot that means that it is something that you really like. It is bad to do like yard work and stuff after 2:00pm Idk why. I think its just because that is when the sun is the hottest, that's why everyone gets up way early. It is bad to puff up your cheeks, that is pretty much like flipping someone off. haha It is bad to sharpen your knife after it gets dark!? Because that means that you are going to chop someone. You always have to take off your shoes when you go into someones house, even if their floor is just dirt, and most of the time it is.
There is like ten different ways to shake someones hand. You can just shake it, you can shake their hand and put your other hand over theirs that is like a sign of pwi pwi like brothers/really good friends. Then you can shake your hand and put your other hand under your wrist, and that is a sign of respect. And you can just keep moving your hand up closer to your elbow the more respect you have for them, and putting it under your elbow is the most respectful thing that you can do. You would do it to people in high positions, religious leaders, the president, old people, people do it to us all the time.
Oh I got my first Chuukese haircut, and it was awesome. I look just like dad in his missionary picture. Really short on the sides and long on top. It was a scary experience at first. So I go up to this guy's house Tpays, he is like the Mob Boss of Wichap. He is super buff and he grows tons of weed. He is also the young men's and young women's president! He is like 27 years old. He is super awesome. He told me that he was super good at cutting hair for all of his cousin and stuff that he cut their hair and it looked really good. All these crazy designs and stuff. So I'm up there and he comes out with a pair of scissors and a comb. I thought he would have a pair of buzzers. So I was a little nervous.  He tells me to sit on a cinder block, I told him what I wanted and then he went to town. Just sitting on a cinder block out side next to a fotong - a cook house. And I couldn't see anything that was happening, so when he was done I told him Kiblsou - thank you and walked all the way home to see what I looked like. I was covered in hair and just feeling my head. It felt really short. Got home looked in the mirror and it was awesome.
I am getting really strong!! haha I have been doing a ton of pull ups and push ups. I do 150 pull ups and 400 push ups every day except Sunday. The boys here call me Kechof Kechof or Jaiwalk a wak which just means ripped or really strong.
I think that the rainy season is coming, it has been raining quite a lot, I try to shower out side when ever it rains, it is the best.
I love you all so much!!
Some of the boys here have been helping me make Landon's Birthday present, and I realized that I couldn't leave all the bros out. I know they will all love these things we are making.

Love, Elder Hunter

Salt Waters of Mormon

This week we had another baptism, it was super super cool. It was a way fun baptism! I baptized the crazy 11 year old that I think I told you about. Well his name is A-Chuk and he is a little ball of trouble. He is super funny and he was so ready to be baptized. It was so funny when we let him try on his baptism clothes he would not take them off haha, he really really wanted to be baptized it was sooo awesome. So me and him just took pictures all over the place in our white cloths. He is an awesome kid, we took some really good pictures! He reminds me a ton of Landon, and it is awesome because he always hangs out with us and goes teaching with us!
So we walked down to the baptismal spot, and that was awesome because we held hands the whole way. I think it is the sweetest thing when these little kids want to hold your hand. We got to our spot and it was high tide and we had to almost swim past this muddy part to get to where we do the baptisms. Past the coral there is a sand bar and it is supper cool.
I have the funniest picture of Elder Huppe up to his neck hahah, but right when we got to the water A-Chuk dove in head first haha, he just really wanted to be Baptized!
It was a super amazing day, probably the best day so far! I keep saying I had the best day, I guess my missions is just getting better and better! Tell Tanner I must be getting better looking haha, it's probably because I get to wear short sleeves so they can see my huge biceps!
Oh mom guess what? I have been making all natural coconut rice pudding!!!! Oh it is soooo good! So what I do is go find some taka under coconut trees, taka is the older coconuts that fall off the tree and they have the hard white stuff in the middle! Then I husk the coconut so it looks like the hard coconuts that you can buy in the states.  Then I crack that open and I grade it into shavings with this thing they call a pwaker, and I do about 4 coconuts every time.  Then I Squeeze all of the milk out into rice with some brown sugar, oh it is so freaking good, reminds me of home!
Oh and I watched them make coconut oil, they call it tika! I bought a big bottle of it for a dollar haha! I love coconuts they are my favorite thing!
Well I love you all so much, thanks so much for the package I was super happy when I got it, and I think Elder Huppe was even Happier!

Love Elder Hunter
